Organic cotinus essential oil steam distilled from the leaves and twigs of Cotinus coggygria. The deep and complex aroma is earthy, warm, and resinous with notes of green herbaceous bitterness. Hints of dry forests scents mingle with an underlying sweetness.
Our organic cotinus oil is also known as the smoke tree or smoke bush for the small clusters of flowers that lend the light and fluffy appearance of smoke clouds. This oil can add mysterious, forested notes to perfume blends and has similar aromatic qualities to galbanum essential oil. It is often used for supporting skin health for occasional blemishes or irritations, dry skin, and cleansing.
Add to skin salve recipes or carrier oils for topical use. Cotinus can also be used in diffuser blends for seasonal bronchial support or in hot water for steam inhalation. Can contain up to 44% α-pinene, 20% limonene, 11% β-pinene, and 4% β-phellandrene.
