Turmeric is a tropical perennial plant in the same family as ginger. It is native to India and is now cultivated around the world. This botanical grows to a height of about three feet (one meter) and bears lance-shaped leaves in pairs on alternate sides of the stem, with a knobby rhizome at the base that resembles ginger.

Curcuma longa has a history of use spanning millennia and is considered energetically hot. It was recognized in the ancient Greek writings of Dioscorides. For thousands of years, this plant has been incorporated into Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine for its healthful properties. Turmeric root’s main constituent, curcumin, is thought to be responsible for many of the rhizome’s vivid color. Turmeric supports healthy joint mobility.*

Our turmeric tincture is made with organic fresh root and organic alcohol, resulting in a brilliantly hued liquid extract. This aromatic bitter can be combined with extracts like ginger and devil’s claw, among others. The tincture can be taken in water or juice or directly in the mouth. It also pairs well with teas including lemon tea or spring care tea.
