Milk Thistle: A member of the Asteraceae or sunflower family, milk thistle contains a complex of flavonoids called silymarin that are its most active constituents. This herb is most known for its strong affinity for the liver, as it supports the liver’s natural detoxification process.*
Schisandra: This herb has an extensive history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Schisandra is abundant in wellness properties and is regarded for its bounty of antioxidants and for its adaptogenic qualities, along with a lengthy list of other helpful attributes. This botanical has been revered for its supportive benefits for centuries.
Turmeric: Curcuma longa has a history of use spanning millennia and is considered energetically hot. For thousands of years, this plant has been incorporated into Ayurveda and TCM for its healthful properties. Turmeric root’s main constituent, curcumin, is thought to be responsible for the vibrancy of the rhizome’s color.
Yellow Dock: The root of yellow dock is bright yellow below the bark. These thick, fleshy roots have been employed in traditional herbal practices for their wellness-supporting properties. It produces an aromatic, earthy tincture that is somewhat bitter with a hint of astringency.
Dandelion: In the United States, various indigenous cultures utilized dandelion as a prized edible and employed the root for its many heathy benefits. According to TCM, this herb is considered energetically sweet, drying, and cooling and was often called upon to clear heat from the liver. This well-loved botanical is traditionally used to support liver health.*
Oregon Grape: The golden yellow root of Oregon grape takes its color from the active constituent berberine, which is considered responsible for the healthful aspects of this botanical. Oregon grape is sometimes substituted for goldenseal, as the two herbs have similar constituent properties.
