Our organic citronella oil is steam distilled from Cymbopogon winterianus, commonly called Java citronella, and is used more often in the perfume and fragrance industries than other citronella species.

A green and fruity top note, citronella essential oil is steam distilled from a perennial grass native to south Asia. It is universally known to ward off insects, especially mosquitoes. Great for camping trips or dinner in the backyard.

Aroma Rich and sweet, citronella essential oil has a fresh herbaceous, almost lemony aroma. Very calming and uplifting, it is often used in skin care for a fresh scent.

Constituents This oil contains citronellal, geraniol, and citronellol.

Citronellal is found in lemon balm and tea tree essential oils while citranellol is most prevalent in our rose absolute. Geraniol is dominant in lemongrass and tea tree oils.

Blending and Uses Citronella blends well with cedarwood, geranium, lavender and other florals, peppermint, pine, and most citrus oils.

Add a few drops to a carrier oil or hydrosol to keep bugs off while enjoying the great outdoors or burn in a candle to create a bug-free zone around a campfire.

Citronella is also a potent cleansing oil, add to any household cleaning formula to keep your house smelling crisp and clean. Try a combination of citronella, peppermint, and tea tree in create a unique DIY cleaning spray.

To reduce the occasional blemish try using citronella as a spot treatment, add to witch hazel or hydrosol to make a beneficial toner or try using a citronella infused soap to stay smelling fresh and clean.

Packaging 1/2 oz. and 1 oz. essential oils are packaged in amber glass bottles with drop reducers for easy application. Larger sizes are packaged in amber screw cap bottles and do not come with reducers or droppers.

Safety This oil may interact with certain drugs, may contain methyl eugenol, and can cause skin sensitization. Never use essential oils undiluted, in eyes or mucus membranes. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified healthcare practitioner. Keep away from children and pets.

Before using perform a small patch test on your inner forearm or back. Apply a small quantity of diluted essential oil and cover with a bandage. If you experience any irritation use carrier oil or cream to further dilute the essential oil, and then wash with soap and water.
