Product Details

Our organic lemongrass oil is a top note steam distilled from Cymbopogon flexuosus grass. This species is known as East Indian lemongrass, and also goes by Malabar or Cochin grass. It is related to citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus) and palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii), two other highly aromatic grasses.

Lemongrass is found growing in many regions such as Thailand, India, and Burma where the fresh grass is used in culinary recipes. Lemongrass essential oil is thought to be energetically cleansing and helpful for stressful states of mind. It is used in massage oil for occasional soreness and included in cosmetics from soaps to lotions and skin care serums.

Aroma
Powerful and pervasive with fresh grassy-green and citrus notes.

Constituents
This oils mainly comprised of geranial and neral, which together make up the component known as “citral”. It also contains geraniol.

Citral is found in lemon tea tree, litsea cubeba, lemon balm, and lemon. Geraniol will be found in palmarosa, geranium, citronella, lemon balm, and davana.

Blending and Uses
With its intense herbal citrus aromatics, lemongrass oil is found in many outdoor essential oil blends to help deter pests alongside citronella, cedarwood, thyme, and catnip. The cleansing properties of lemongrass pair well with sage in deodorants, or in soaps with rosemary, eucalyptus, and bergamot.

In diffuser blends the relaxing qualities can be emphasized with lavender or clary sage. For a bright and tropical feel combine lemongrass with fresh ginger and ylang ylang. This oil also combines beautifully in diffusers for a boost of energy with spearmint and lemon.

This oil can help support general skin health and has astringent qualities for controlling blemishes and blends well with palmarosa or juniper for these same purposes. It can be combined with oils like geranium, cinnamon leaf, or peppermint in carrier oils, cream, or shampoo to support healthy feet, nails, and scalp.

Packaging
1/2 oz. and 1 oz. essential oils are packaged in amber glass bottles with drop reducers for easy application. Larger sizes are packaged in amber screw cap bottles and do not come with reducers or droppers.
