Organic thyme essential oil is steam distilled from the aerial portion of Thymus vulgaris. Our thyme oil is the thymol chemotype. This middle note has a strong and spicy-herbaceous scent. The name has two possible Greek origins. The first being thymon which means to fumigate. This comes from the herb being used as an incense. The second is thumon meaning courage. Thyme was associated with bravery. Thyme oil is used in cleaning recipes, topically, or in aromatherapy, and blends well with eucalyptus, lavender, peru balsam, rosemary, or bergamot.
