Prunus serotina is a tree that is native to eastern North America that produces small, dark fruits known as cherries. Since ancient times the cherry has been associated with virginity, the red colored fruit with the enclosed seed symbolizing the uterus. Buddhism teaches that Maya, the virgin mother of Buddha, was supported by a holy cherry tree during her pregnancy. In Danish folklore, a good crop of cherries was ensured by having the first ripe fruit eaten by a woman shortly after her first child was born. Many myths center around cherries being symbols of both education and concealment.
The reddish-brown bark of this tree has traditionally been employed for its wellness-supporting properties. Wild cherry tree bark was initially used by indigenous populations and later adopted into traditional folk herbalism. The bark is typically utilized to create herbal syrups, infuse into tea, or to craft liquid extracts.
Our wild cherry extract is created in small batches from the dried organic bark by our expert team in Eugene, Oregon. The liquid extract is aromatic and astringent with a sweet and bitter taste. It can be taken in water or juice or paired with other extracts including elder ultra extract blend or chest care extract blend.
