Product Details

Our organic sweet orange oil is cold pressed from the peels of Citrus sinensis. As the name suggests, this top note oil is sweet and satisfying like peeling a fresh orange. The fruit is thought to have originated in China and India, though the exact origins are a mystery.

Sweet orange essential oil, like many citrus oils, is used in cleaning recipes for its limonene content that acts as a natural degreaser. The potent aromatics can be added to body wash, soaps, perfumes, and aromatherapy applications. It blends well with many other oils from woody, citrus, to floral adding an uplifting top note. Sweet orange has no phototoxic hazard.

Aroma
Characteristic of fresh orange peel with concentrated sweet and fruity notes.

Constituents
This oil primarily contains limonene, which can make up to 95% of the constituents. Its also contains myrcene and α-pinene. Limonene is also in most citrus oils like tangerine, bitter orange, mandarin, lemon, and grapefruit. Myrcene and α-pinene are both found within hemp, myrtle, juniper berry, vitex, and angelica root oils.

Blending and Uses
Sweet orange oil is easy to incorporate in a wide variety of perfumes and body sprays. It is a near-universally agreeable oil that matches well with a wide variety of aromas and supports a positive mood. Combine with sandalwood and rose for a sophisticated natural perfume. Blend orange with juniper, cedarwood, and cypress for an earthier perfume or cologne.

This oil makes an excellent ingredient for aroma and bathroom sprays. It helps to freshen stale air and can be mixed with other citrus like tangerine or grapefruit or spearmint or geranium. Use in diffuser blends for bright and fresh aromatherapy throughout your home with oils like rosemary, petitgrain, lime, or coriander.

Use sweet orange in liquid or bar soaps with thyme, basil, or tea tree oil. It can be blended in autumn inspired lotions or body butters with ginger, clove, and cardamom. Peru balsam or vanilla can be included for a dessert-like aroma.
