Native to Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, suma root is a large ground vine with an extensive root system. For centuries, suma root has been used in traditional Amazonian healing practices for its adaptogenic and healthful properties. Nicknamed Brazilian ginseng or para tudo (translating from Spanish as “for all”), the root has a sweet, vanilla-like flavor that is often added to herbal formulations. Our suma powder is ground from Pfaffia paniculata roots. Suma root powder is ideal for encapsulation or extractions and can be sprinkled on food or in beverages.
Suma root is a member of the Amaranthaceae botanical family.
