Product Details

Astragalus has a long and rich history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as well as in broader Asian culture. Native to China, Mongolia, and North Korea, astragalus was first mentioned in the Divine Husbandman's Classic, an ancient herbal healing text written thousands of years ago. The herb is known as Huang Qi in Chinese and is considered one of 50 fundamental herbs in TCM.

Astragalus mongholicus is an herbaceous, low-growing perennial, and member of the pea family. Also referred to as milkvetch in English, the flowering plant thrives in grassy regions and on mountainsides, requiring plenty of sun exposure. When grown for cultivation, the plants are typically harvested after four or five years, with the roots collected in spring or fall. The roots are then dried in the sun and sliced for distribution.

For millennia, astragalus root has been used in TCM to fortify qi or vital energy and to support wellness. Astragalus supports immune health to help you stay feeling your best and supports the body’s immune defenses to stay feeling healthy. Astragalus is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as an adaptogen to help increase energy and resistance to stress.*

Astragalus roots have a yellow hue and a sweet, moistening taste with a firm, fibrous texture. They are oftentimes taken in small amounts over a long period of time as a tonic herb. Use astragalus tincture blended with other extracts such as ashwagandha extract, eleuthero extract, and spilanthes extract. Astragalus extract can even be mixed into elder berry syrup for an added treat of wellness boosting power. Additionally, we suggest adding to warm teas such as classic chai tea or echinacea & elder tea.
