Botanical Name: Nepeta cataria var citriodora Origin: France
Organic lemon catnip essential oil is a top to middle note steam distilled from the aerial portion of Nepeta cataria var. citriodora. It has a powerful lemony floral aroma with herbaceous catnip notes. Traditionally catnip essential oil has been used to reduce the nuisance of flying insects due to the nepetalactone content of the oil. Lemon catnip typically has a lower nepetalactone level than traditional catnip oil. It also contains citronellol and geraniol.
Lemon catnip does have the characteristic catnip aroma. However, it is intertwined with geranium-like and citrus notes that combine to make a very complex oil. Extremely tenacious, a little will go a long way in a blend. This oil is popular in outdoor sprays and will blend well with lemon, rosemary, catnip, or sandalwood.
Blends Well With Cedarwood, citronella, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, marjoram, orange, rosemary, and sandalwood.
Packaging 5 mL, 1/2 oz., and 1 oz. sizes are packaged in an amber glass bottle with a reducer cap.
